Bamboo cane crop

We want to talk today about the origins and production of one of our principal products: the bamboo cane.

Bamboo could possibly be the easiest and fastest herbaceous plant to grow that we can find on the planet. During its first year, it can reach up to two meters height, more than any other plant. The bamboo cane mainly lives in Asia.

It is believed that bamboo was one of the first plants which were found on Earth, thanks to its fast growth and its ease to reproduce made that it was spread around the planet.  Even though it is said that is existence was before dinosaur’s age.

Regarding production, once it is planted, the bamboo could grow between 15 and 20 centimetres in a day, depending on the species and humidity conditions, due to that, at 4 years it can start its production.

Did you know that bamboo has a higher tensile strength than steel? And that is harder than oak? Probably many of you unknown these data, but among other qualities, the bamboo cane also contributes to the recovery of saline soils and captures more of the carbon dioxide emitted into the environment.
